Chipper Cash facilitates free peer-to-peer payments across Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, South Africa, Tanzania, Rwanda, the UK, and the USA. By 2020, the platform had grown to 4 million active users, averaging 80,000 daily transactions and processing $100M in monthly payment value.
As Chipper Cash scaled, their previous messaging provider began to show its limits — OTPs failing silently, messages landing on inactive numbers, no ability to localise delivery in-country, and costs that didn't justify the reliability.
